About
Deep Purple – Fireball (1971)
Deep Purple’s Fireball pushed their hard rock sound in bold new directions, adding progressive and blues influences. The title track, with its blistering speed and double bass drumming, set the tone for an album full of surprises. "No No No" delivers a heavy groove, "The Mule" became a live favorite thanks to Ian Paice’s legendary drum solo, and "Fools" blends atmospheric guitar work with powerful vocals. Even the playful "Anyone’s Daughter" stands out with its country-tinged style.
Released in a textured gatefold sleeve with a lyrics inlay, Fireball became Deep Purple’s first UK No.1 album. Though often overshadowed by Machine Head, it played a key role in shaping the band's signature sound.
